CAD and Ferrule/Label Technician (LEEDS)

CAD and Ferrule Technician Duties

Undertake updates to clients Mechanical and Electrical CAD drawings using AutoCAD, accurately interpret engineer’s mark-ups and transpose changes to CAD drawing to predefined drawing standards. Design and manage production of Ferrule tags and Labels from CAD drawings for use by engineers in the constructions of electrical panels and cabinets. Ensure a high level of accuracy and communicate queries with engineers to reach resolution and ensure completeness in line with expected standards. Update revision data and versions as per defined standards.

This role often involves working Document Control Systems and working to deadlines and ensuring that all departments of the organisation are following the same procedures with regards to documents in ensuring that drawings in the right location and reference with the correct number convention, they are categorised according to the type of document with the help of the document controller. This role also involves checking and approving documents before they are filed and liaising with internal and external contacts to ensure that documents/drawings contain correct and understandable information regarding their categorisation.

The CAD Technician role will require the candidate to perform many of the following tasks:

Role Specifics

  • AutoCAD & Raster CAD – Creating drawings to engineer’s sketches / markups etc.
  • Issue drawings via our IT/Document Management Systems which creates automatic Transmittals and Drawing lists on request. Could be issued electronically, small packages or construction boxes.
  • Engineering Support – Using IT/Document Management Systems to download and print drawings, use customer IT system to obtain Master drawings.
  • Design and manage Production of Ferrule tags and labels from CAD.
  • Outsourcing CAD – Manage this process, liaising with engineers on requirements and deadlines, estimating CAD hours.
  • General - IT admin.
  • General – Maintain printers (Paper / Ink / contact service when required).
  • General – Obtain knowledge on all our doc control procedures and processes.

Additionally, an understanding of the organisation’s business matters is crucial so as to be able to identify and control documents effectively. The salary applicants can expect to earn is up to £19,000 per year + overtime when required. The role is located in the West Yorkshire area.

 


Senior CAD Technician

Centara Ltd is currently seeking to recruit a Senior CAD Technician to join our existing team based in Hebburn.

Job overview / purpose

  • Responsible for the production of primary layout drawings associated with High Voltage Substation (400 - 11kV), ensuring delivery to quality, time and to appropriate standards.

Scope of Job

  • Production of plant layout and section drawings from conceptual design documents and engineers sketches.
  • Ensuring adherence to design office standards and practices.
  • Undertake site visits throughout the UK as required.
  • Production of building layout drawings.
  • Production of equipment manufacturing drawings.

Qualifications

  • ONC / HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Experience of civil design including building layouts.
  • Excellent communication and team skills.
  • HV Electrical Substation Experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Typically 5 years engineering experience.

 

The Individual

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a similar role in the Civil Construction or Utilities Industry as this would be a distinct advantage, you will ideally have the ability to work under your own initiative as an individual, as well as part of a larger team and your working knowledge of AutoCAD up to and including version 2013 should be excellent.

You should have a flexible attitude and have an aptitude to learn new work processes as required.

Document Controller Duties

The document controller is responsible for controlling the organisation’s project documents. This post involves coordinating with the different departments within an organisation and ensuring that drawings are checked in and out of the document management system (Blue Ciello Meridien) are kept in the right location and are accessible to all internal services.

Centara Ltd are a Utility Mapping Company working for a variety of blue chip companies throughout the UK. We are currently looking to expand our survey team with an experienced Utility Mapping Surveyor (Tracer), our office is based in Normanton West Yorkshire however, you will be required to attend sites across the country therefore a full clean driving licence is required. The Ideal candidate should have proven, relevant experience with a reputable utility mapping company.

You will have an understanding and experience in accepted utility mapping practices, and be highly proficient with the use Radiodetection RD4000 and/or RD7000 / RD8000 tracing equipment. Experience of utilising Ground Penetrating Radar systems for locating utilities. Use of systems such as GSSI SIR2000, GSSI SIR3000, RD1000, MALA or IDS is of distinct advantage although GPR training can be provided. A company vehicle will be provided and overnight stays should be expected from time to time. You will need a flexible approach, good communication skills and must above all be committed and reliable. Applicants with CAD and Topographical Survey expertise in addition to utility mapping skills are also welcome.

The Ideal candidate should have proven, relevant experience, particularly with Topographical Survey, Setting Out, Network RTK GPS, a knowledge of Underground Utility Mapping would also be advantageous. Office processing LSS Terra model and AutoCAD skills are essential. A company Vehicle will be provided and overnight stays should be expected from time to time. You will need a flexible approach, good communication skills and must above all be reliable.
